Lately I've learned that it's alright to not be okay
Propaganda on the streets, hey boy what's that you're reading
It's plastering the walls and it's creating mass division
If shepherd is to flock as is lies to an opinion
Then the people take the blame for their substandard living
We are the young, we are the impressionable
Our legacy should be one of revolt
So we turn a blind eye, why do we act so naive
Accept but don't believe
Lately I've learned that it's alright to not be okay
Propaganda on the streets, hey boy what's that you're reading
It's plastering the walls and it's creating mass division
If shepherd is to flock as is lies to an opinion
Then the people take the blame for their substandard living
We are the young, the impressionable
All we've gained, lost in vain
It's justified, we're crucified, we'll outlive those who wronged our rights
All we've gained, lost in vain
A stranger to repent, self-preserving with no hindsight
All we've gained, lost in vain
So we turn a blind eye, why do we act so naive
Accept but don't believe
Lately I've learned that it's alright to not be okay
We are the young, the impressionable

Hours at night, set aside, medicate me
The daylight won't dim like it used to
Self-indulgent sin, and I'm led astray
The luring eyes of paradise just can't seem to change their gaze
No longer running
Infatuated with denial no pride or shame
Promising that it would be different this time
Born into reprise, there ain't no faith in your eyes, in your eyes oh no woah-oh
Hours at night, set aside, medicate me
The daylight won't dim like it used to
Self-indulgent sin, and I'm led astray
The luring eyes of paradise just can't seem to change their gaze
An epidemic for the weaker mind, no fantasy
A misconception of where to find paradise
Hours at night, medicate me
Medicate me, medicate me
Left penniless with nothing to spare, just the cold of the air
Suffocation has come to a hold, the stone is a lonely home
Define what naive is, I always did since I was just a kid
The critics met and low and behold, convictions on display for all
Born into reprise, there ain't no faith in your eyes, in your eyes, in your eyes
Born into reprise, there ain't ever been no faith in your eyes
And I'll admit that I'm infatuated with denial (so spend a night, spend a night)
Born into reprise, there ain't no faith in your eyes when you're in paradise

Seek out
No forward-thinking, working class released
A generation that's infected by the same disease
On a fast track, you're seeking fame
Narcissistic traits have never really looked so vain
The present's lasting, the future's aged
Blue collars are now sold in many shades
A dreamers culture, on the pay roll
It's little wonder that the world can't sleep at all
Can't sleep at all
No chance to close your eyes when you're inches from demise (oh)
Ignorance is bliss when reality is redefined
Blissful ignorance when reality is redefined
It's redefined, seek out
A crashing market, tumbling on the enslaved
But fantasies are the currency that you trade
A vision's value ain't what it seems, but still we wander up and down these streets
Seek out, seek out, the shimmer lost in the grey
Lost in the grey
No chance to close your eyes when you're inches from demise (oh)
Ignorance is bliss when reality is redefined
Blissful ignorance when reality is redefined
It's redefined
Seek out, seek out, the shimmer lost in the grey
Lost in the grey
Why don't you find it
A shimmer that's lost, lost in the grey
Seek out, seek out, the shimmer lost in the grey
Ignorance is bliss when reality is redefined
Blissful ignorance when reality is redefined
It's redefined

Memoirs

Running faces, black suits and ties
The movies told me that a man doesn't cry
A cold day in autumn blowing
Golden blankets reminiscent of what was slipping by
A sudden shake up, a violent quake, but a hole in the ground won't help me wake
Cliche stings and it's dejavu
Photographs collect the dust left in empty rooms
So I say goodbye, questioning when I said hello
I don't want to know
Connection blossoms, then withers and dies
Hollow bodies and regrets meet at final goodbyes
Where it's too late, and there's no going back
Drive across town to visit you now
Mirror image fills my head with doubt
Guilt's contagious, a hell of a drug
And it's enough to keep you out from the gate above
Knees shift the earth and palms pressed tight
Words uttered under breath hoping to make things right
An aimless practice given wasted chance
Just another aching soul left in this great expanse
Connection blossoms, then withers and dies
Hollow bodies and regrets meet at final goodbyes
Where it's too late, and there's no going back

They say practice what you preach, hey hey cause one day they'll listen
You won't be made a martyr, they just need something to believe in
A struggle for the sake of struggle is a struggle yeah, well I'm struggling
You just wanted to write a best seller but it went from fact to fiction
Eight years, well how long have you been dreaming
I've lost count of these nights they're so seamless
Confided - a room full of secrets
Confided - ain't no god who can keep them
Hang by a thread on every word you say
This soapbox stand has seen much better days
No silence, waging a war of words
They say practice what you preach, hey hey cause one day they'll listen
You won't be made a martyr, they just need something to believe in
A struggle for the sake of struggle is a struggle yeah, well I'm struggling
You just wanted to write a best seller but it went from fact to fiction
Hang by a thread on every word you say
This soapbox stand has seen much better days
No silence, waging a war of words
So hang me by the binds of the books which you cling to
So tight, so preciously (I know your secrets)
You just wanted to write a best seller but see fiction doesn't stack up in history
I'm done
